Repainting the interior doors is a simple and effective way to freshen up your home. Painting interior doors can make a big difference to the overall impression and is a relatively easy project, even for those who don't have much previous painting experience. We guide you through the process step by step and give tips on how to get the best results when painting interior doors.
Painting interior doors has several advantages. First and foremost, it is a cost-effective way to renew your home compared to completely replacing the doors. By painting the interior doors, you can easily match them with new decor or wall color. It's also a good opportunity to cover up scratches and wear that have occurred over time.
Painting interior doors is also a project that can be completed relatively quickly. With the right preparation and technique, you can achieve nice, even results even if you are a beginner at painting. It doesn't require much special equipment either, most of which you probably already have at home.
Before you start painting, it's important to choose the right paint for your interior doors. Keep in mind that the doors are often in focus and clearly visible, so choose a color that you really like. Feel free to bring home color samples and test them out before you decide.
A tip is to choose a color that harmonizes with the wall color for a calm impression, or a contrasting color to create a cool effect. White, gray and black are classic choices that suit most interior styles. If you're after a more personal look, you can dare to try a bold color like green, blue or red.
Careful cleaning and preparation is important for a successful painting project. Make sure the door is clean and dry before you start. Scrape and sand off loose paint. Prime if necessary with a primer intended for doors.
Then start painting from the top down. Use a high-quality brush for the best results and make sure to spread the paint properly so that no streaks are formed. Paint along the direction of the wood grain. Let the paint dry thoroughly before applying the next coat. Often two to three coats are required for a satisfactory result.
Don't forget to paint the door frame while you're at it. The same principles apply here - clean thoroughly, sand, prime and paint at least two coats for the best result. Use masking tape to protect the wall around the frame and get neat edges.
Painting interior doors is a project that really pays off. With a freshly painted door, the room and the home get a boost that lasts for a long time. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, we are happy to provide tips and advice along the way!
